How and Where to Obtain MATIC for Testing

1. What is MATIC?

MATIC is the test token used on the Matic (Polygon) Mumbai Testnet. It provides developers and testers with the ability to experiment and test their applications without using real funds.

2. Why Do You Need MATIC?

To test the functionalities of the Emmet.Finance bridge on the Matic Mumbai Testnet, you'll need MATIC. Just as you would need real MATIC on the main Matic network, MATIC for testing is essential for covering transaction fees and other operations during the testing phase on the testnet.

3. How to Obtain MATIC:

  • Visit the Polygon Faucet.

  • Ensure you're on the "Mumbai" network and select "MATIC" as the token.

  • Your wallet address is required to request tokens.

  • The faucet dispenses a limited number of test tokens daily. For bulk requests, complete this form.

  • Follow the instructions provided on the faucet page to receive your MATIC.

4. How to Add Mumbai Testnet to MetaMask:

The Mumbai Testnet is the test network for the Matic (Polygon) platform. If you're looking to conduct tests or develop on this network using MetaMask, follow the steps below:

  1. Open MetaMask Click on the MetaMask extension icon in your browser.

  2. Select the Network Dropdown At the top of the MetaMask window, click on the network dropdown (it might say "Ethereum Mainnet" or another network name).

  3. Add Custom RPC Scroll down and select "Custom RPC" to add a new network.

  4. Enter Network Details for Mumbai Testnet:

  5. Save and Select Network After entering the details, click "Save." The Mumbai Testnet should now be available in the network dropdown.

5. Important Notes:

  • MATIC obtained from testnet faucets has no real-world value and should only be used for testing purposes.

  • Always ensure you're on the correct network to avoid loss of real funds.
